Supplanting the older, unnamed black-eyed Susans that used to be found commercially, Goldstrum offers all the best attributes of the original without the inevitable weaklings that used to appear sporadically. Goldstrum produces masses of gold daisy-like blooms for months from mid summer on, filling out flower beds and supplying lots of straight stemmed blossoms to display in white ironstone pitchers. This perennial has been designated by the American Horticultural Society as a Great Plant for American Gardens and the Perennial Plant Societys Perennial Plant of the Year in 1999.
